130 COVID-19 cases registered overnight with 134 recoveries

Malta has registered 130 new cases of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours from 2,660 swab tests, while 134 patients have recovered. This information was announced by the official Facebook page of Malta’s Ministry for Health.

As of Saturday 20th February 2021, 63,308 vaccine doses were administered.

To date, Malta has registered 20,892 COVID-19 cases in total, of which: 18,067 have recovered, 304 died and 2,521 are still active.

Miriam Dalli confirms floating wind farms to power all of Gozo

Energy Minister, Miriam Dalli has confirmed that plans are underway to build offshore wind farms with the capacity of powering all of Gozo.

This project is predicted to be able to cater to the need of all of Gozo’s energy as well as adding extra power to the national grid.

Dalli is working on this project in collaboration with Enemalta, the University of Malta, the Energy and Water Agency and foreign companies, one of which is Shanghai Electric.

No significant rainfall is expected before the end of February; temperatures to get warmer

According to the Malta International Airport weather forecast no rainfall is expected before the end of February.

Temperatures are expected to rise to around 20 degrees celsius at times. The weather is mostly predicted to be partly cloudy or sunny.
