106 COVID-19 cases registered overnight with 91 recoveries

Malta has registered 106 new cases of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours from 2,966 swab tests, while 91 patients have recovered. This information was announced by the official Facebook page of Malta’s Ministry for Health.

Today’s cases are still being investigated. From yesterday’s cases; 21 cases were family members of previously known cases, 22 cases were contact of positive work colleagues, 7 cases were direct contacts with other positive cases, 2 cases were from social gatherings with other positive cases and 2 cases were imported.

To date, Malta has registered 5,866 COVID-19 cases in total, of which: 3,880 have recovered, 59 died and 1,927 are still active.

A who’s who of Yorgen Fenech’s Las Vegas Trip

As the Yorgen Fenech saga continues, further information has been unveiled regarding Fenech’s companions in his 2018 Las Vegas trip. 

Apart from the Tumas group boss, Charlene Bianco Farrugia was also in attendance. Bianco Farrugia was formerly a personal assistant to Keith Schembri during the Labour Party’s first term. During the trip, she was an OPM official and not a Schembri assistant.

Two more COVID-19 victims bring death toll up to 58

The Health Authorities have reported two more COVID-19 deaths on Thursday morning. 

One of the victims is an 82-year-old man who who was admitted to Mater Dei on the 25th of September, tested positive on the 26th and died yesterday.

The other victim is a 66-year-old man who tested positive on the 1st of October, was admitted to Mater Dei on the 8th of October and also died yesterday. 

It has been reported that both cases had underlying health conditions.

Suspected terrorist attack at Notre Dame Basilica

At least two people were killed in a knife attack in Nice, France as the local mayor has ruled a potential ‘terrorist’ attack. 

The incident occurred at the Notre Dame Basilica on Thursday where the attacker was shot by officials and taken into custody shortly after.

Nice medics are currently trying to save the life of a third victim who tried to escape.
