101 COVID-19 cases registered overnight with 123 recoveries

Malta has registered 101 new cases of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours from 2,399 swab tests, while 123 patients have recovered. This information was announced by the official Facebook page of Malta’s Ministry for Health.

From yesterday’s cases; 22 cases were family members of previously known cases, 9 cases were contacts of positive work colleagues, 18 cases were direct contacts with other positive cases, 8 cases were from social gatherings with other positive cases.

To date, Malta has registered 12,426 COVID-19 cases in total, of which: 10,791 have recovered, 215 died and 1,420 are still active.

Doctor’s Union, MAM, called for the vaccination of all healthcare professionals within 5 weeks.

The Medical Association of Malta said that the pace needs to be increased from 50 COVID vaccinations per day to around 300.

Bernard Grech pays tribute to his cousin Karin Grech, who died in a tragic incident 43 years ago today.

He refers to the murder of Karin Grech as a stain on our political story and a wound within their family.

Grech urged the Malta Police Force to keep investigating the case even though a substantial amount of time has passed.

“No one had to die, or has to die because of politics.”
