Malta has registered 100 new cases of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours from 3,048 swab tests, while 157 patients have recovered. This information was announced by the official Facebook page of Malta’s Ministry for Health.
As of Saturday 6th January 2021, 37,586 vaccine doses were administered.
To date, Malta has registered 18,676 COVID-19 cases in total, of which: 16,053 have recovered, 282 died and 2,341 are still active.

A seed-sized chameleon was found in Madagascar and it just might be the world’s smallest reptile. This male nano-chameleon is named Brookesia nana and its body is only 13.5mm long.
The discovery was made by a German-Madagascan expedition team in northern Madagascar. The female version of this reptile is significantly larger than the male.
Its total length from nose to tail is 22mm and the female’s body from nose to tail is 29mm. The species’ habitat was subjected to deforestation and has now been placed under protection.

Chris Fearne announced in a tweet that Malta now has another cannon against COVID-19 as the AstraZeneca vaccine arrives in Malta.
The British-Swedish company’s vaccine is now the third COVID-19 vaccine to arrive in Malta following the arrival of the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines.
Malta will be receiving 1 million doses of the vaccine. This particular vaccine will only be administered to people between the ages of 18 and 55 since not enough studies have been carried out as of yet, regarding its efficacy in older people.

MaltaToday has published another survey regarding the party leaders’ trust ratings. Robert Abela’s trust rating has slipped to 41.7% and has been decreasing during the past couple of months.
Although the decrease is marginal, this is the lowest rating that Robert Abela has had since becoming the leader of the Malta Labour Party and Prime Minister of Malta.
The gap between the leaders is now 6.6 points and this is the closest it has been since the last general election.
