A 43-year-old man has been given a 10 month prison sentence after being caught with almost 12 grams (11.89) of cannabis resin in a packet of Maltesers whilst in prison.
The case took place on November 21st in 2013, where Qormi Resident Mark Pace was found hiding the resin by four officials within the Corradino Correctional Facility after a routine inspection of cell 205 in Division 5 sector, where Pace was assigned.
The accused was found possessing a Maltesers packet with five blocks of cannabis resin (1.6g, 2.80g, 1.86g, 4.33g and 1.22g), with the prosecution charging the accused for recidivism. Despite this, magistrate Natasha Galea Sciberras did not find him guilty of this accuse.
Galea sentenced the man for 10 months in prison for being guilty of possessing cannabis resin and was given a fine of €308.32 in court expenses, to be paid in six months. The court also called for the destruction of the concerned cannabis.
