Malta has registered 0 new cases of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours from 1,660 swab tests, while 3 patients have recovered. No deaths were registered in the past 24 hours. This information was announced by the official Facebook page of Malta’s Ministry for Health.

As of Friday 18th June 2021, 621,674 vaccine doses were administered of which 350,092 were 1st doses. 282,709 people are currently fully vaccinated.

To date, Malta has registered 30,588 COVID-19 cases in total, of which: 30,139 have recovered, 420 died and 29 are still active.

Scotland fans were captured cleaning up the streets of London after their wild pre-game celebrations in Leicester Square on Friday.

Videos of Scotland fans went viral on social media after showing individuals sliding shirtless through a London street to the awe of fellow fanatics, amongst multiple other videos.

Despite having close to 22,000 fans heading to London on Friday, only 2,600 actually had tickets to Wembley stadium while the thousands of other fans travelled to London for the support and atmosphere ahead of their 0-0 game against England.

Malta Customs drug seizure amongst top 10 global airport seizures in 2020

The World Customs Organization (WCO) Regional Intelligence Liaison Office for Western Europe (RILO WE) has published information highlighting that 6.9 tons of illegal drugs were stopped from entering the European Market via Customs department’s at airports around the continent.

2020 saw 765 drug courier cases, with one of the Malta Customs departments seizures being featured amongst the top 10 airport seizures of the year for a suitcase containing 9.58kg of cocaine.

Cocaine seizures were reported to be the largest fraction of drugs, with 1.9 tons of cocaine, despite the percentage of cocaine couriers dropping by 49% compared to 2019.

Deputy Prime Minister Chris Fearne has announced that, for the third time this week, no new COVID-19 cases have been registered overnight.

Fearne notified listeners of ONE Radio earlier today, where he also noted that 80 per cent of adults will have received at least on vaccine dose by today, with the official announcement to be published on the Saħħa page at 12.30pm.

Earlier this week, the Deputy Prime Minister also announced that there are no COVID-19 patients in hospital at the moment, as active cases continue to drop as Malta’s vaccination programme continues moving in the right direction.
